After getting fed up with the high maintenance requirements of gas mowers and the hassle of using corded mowers, I finally sprung the $300 for this one. So far, it's been fabulous.

I've never run out of juice from the battery yet, and I've done jobs that last about 45 minutes. The battery is easy to get in and out of the charger and the mower. The handle easily folds down for more compact storage. It runs very smoothly and quietly. My favorite part is the very easy lever mechanism to adjust the mowing height.

I can't talk about the bag, because I just mow with the bag off to get some mulch on my yard. Doing that, I don't get any grass splash on my pants, which is also nice.

The only drawbacks to this thing are that it's only 16 inches wide, which is less than some other mowers, and it isn't self-propelling. However, I wasn't looking for a bigger or self-propelling mower.

Now I really wish I had just bought this right off the bat instead of dealing with other, less convenient mowers in the past.

So far I'm loving this mower.

The Good:
Quiet. It really is at most half as loud as a normal gas push mower. It also will automatically power down a bit if the grass is easy to cut. I love this feature.
Easy to push. It is fairly light, and even though it is not self propelled I find it easy to push.
Battery. For my 1/4 acre lot (not all is grass), the battery seems to last about 1.5 mowings. I can mow my entire yard once, and then half again. I am not entirely sure how long the battery takes to charge, since I don't really sit and watch it, but it hasn't been a problem at all.
Power: It hasn't had a problem yet for anything in my yard. I've been very pleased with the cutting power. My yard is in pretty good shape with mostly healthy grass.

The Poor:
Nothing really yet. I'll update this at then end of the mowing season for additional thoughts.

The previous 3 years I've used a push reel mower (the kind that spins only when you push it, no motor) on my 1/4 acre lot. I have thick grass that got very difficult to mow. The reel mower did not cut tall grass very well. This is certainly an upgrade. I wanted to stay away from gas mowers, and this fits the bill. I would recommend it for small yards for sure.

This mower was as quiet as a Prius and powerful to cut through a foot of grass. Many reviews complained about the battery life but this wasn’t the case for me. I read in the manual that Greenworks sends the battery to you at only 35 - 50% charged so I charged it for an hour and it was ready to go. Since my lawn was so thick, I had to set it to the highest setting (which was very easy to adjust with the lever) for the first pass. After that, I lowered it to the 4th setting on the height adjuster and mower again with no battery issues. I have a 2100 sq ft lawn and had absolutely no issues with the battery; as it had half it’s life left after 45 minutes of mowing. This is a great lawn mower and very easy to maneuver due to the unit being so lite. If you’re looking for an electric cordless mower, Greenworks is for you. My lawn is only 2 months old but for the first cut I was impressed. I can’t wait until my lawn starts to grow thicker and build resiliency so I can start to see better mow lines instead of patches of flat grass.

This is a great mower for trimming around the house before or cleaning up after a larger mower. It is narrow, light, can be height adjusted on the fly and can reach the places a heavier mower would need considerable strength and stamina with minimum effort. The slow startup cycle is a great safety feature as well as if the bail is released the blade stops immediately. The feature that allows the mower to "idle" until it starts engaging the grass works very well. It allows me to reach places that I used to have to weed eat because of slope or tight fit. It is virtually maintenance free and easily folds down for compact storage. It is light enough the built in handle lets most people carry the whole thing and put it away. I got this mower largely in part because I have two existing Greenworks tools that use a smaller but interchangeable battery.
I looked at a lot of reviews about the 40v battery. This one holds a charge well and charges relatively quickly. It has very good staying power and does not tail off too much before low voltage shutdown occurs. It is a LiPo battery and has the same strengths and weaknesses of all lipo batteries and rechargeable batteries in general.
They all last a lot longer if they are fully discharged, allowed to cool, then fully recharged, then allowed to cool before placing it into operation. If you finish your job and plug the battery onto the charger so it will be ready for next time, you will decrease the available amp hours over time degrading the battery. If you have a good size yard and this would be your only mower you would need spare batteries which are expensive. If you think of it as an alternative to weed eating it is great. All this being said, no matter what you do the battery will finally wear out just like your car or any other battery. In this case a LiPo has a very long life as long as it being charged and discharged completely, but periods of inactivity can be hard on them just like the battery on a cordless drill.
This is so much lighter than the self propelled honda I had been using. If you have ever had to keep letting a mower down the hill and pull it back up and hope you don't slip and get your foot under the mower, this is a life changer. Its great for those hard to do areas that are too large to weed eat. I am also tired of fighting with my gas mower getting it going every spring. It's a great mower. Batteries are expensive and should be taken care of.

This is my first electric lawnmower. It is smaller than may old gas mower. Yet, I am super impressed. The battery lasted the whole time. Since the mower is light it is super easy to use. No pain in the butt pull start, no gas, no fumes. 😅 For the first time ever it was not a chore to mow my yard. Why did I wait so long?
