I looked at a ton of waffle makers before I got this one. I wanted to make waffles for breakfast every morning, and had a frustrating, $10 waffle maker from Fred Meyer or somewhere. I picked this because it was the lowest cost, highly rated waffle maker that flipped (like I'd seen at hotels and loved), had an audible beep, and had adjustable levels of cooking.
While I was waiting for it to arrive, I made this waffle mix with my old waffle maker. Buckwheat waffles. Um, they were kinda gross and rubbery. I wanted to comb my mouth. When this one came, a few days later I made up the same mix, and it was great! The waffles were light, fluffy, crisp on the outside but a little moist on the inside (on setting 4.5).
Point is, not only is this a good waffle maker, but the texture and airiness of the waffles it makes goes a long ways. I'd highly recommend it. Since then, I've been on a sourdough kick and have been having waffles for breakfast every day. Regular sourdough waffles, whole wheat, ham and sourdough waffles that are GORGEOUS as well as delicious. Workday breakfast will never be the same.
